ink + a smile was created to stem the tide of smarmy, toe-curling greetings. We’re here to fight the good fight with humor, words and ink. To save people from wasting another “forever” stamp on a card that could have been written by the old lady in the supermarket wearing slippers. We want to help each and every one of you celebrate the little things that make life special, because you never know when it’s all going to go to shit.
Cheers.
Having survived a 20-year career as an advertising copywriter and creative director, Erin Rowe-Shilt decided to chuck it all and take on the dog-eat-dog world of greeting cards. Her inspiration came when her eldest daughter headed off to college. Wanting to be “that mom,” the one who sent thoughtful care packages and the occasional 20-spot, Erin set off in vain to find cards germane to the college experience. That’s when ink + a smile and College-Bound Cards were born. Their meteoric rise to success was interrupted by the actual birth of Erin’s twin sons and the ensuing chaos. She was just happy she managed to send her daughter one of ink + a smile’s first cards right before graduation.
